Have you ever watched a magician pull a rabbit out of a hat? A person who knows how to do magic tricks can make us believe almost anything. Magic is a lot of fun to watch, even if we know it's only make-believe. But sometimes we hear about something that is for real that seems almost too good to be true — like magic! The Moringa tree is like that.

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a little boy lay in the nurse's arms. He was a year and a half old, but he only weighed as much as a tiny baby. He was too weak to even cry. Luanga's father had died. Only a few months later, Luanga's mother left. She could no longer take care of her child. So his grandmother took him to the Centenary Health Center. There the Presbyterian Health Department (DPS) of the Presbyterian Community of Kinshasa, and the Presbyterian Women and Family Department are partners in a nutrition program.
At first, center staff put Luanga on a special formula until he gained weight. Soon he was stronger and ready to eat more. Then he was ready to eat a special soup made of maize and soya beans. But there was something else in the soup that seemed like magic: a special powder that is made from the leaves of the Moringa tree. After four months at the center, Luanga was strong enough to go home with his grandparents.
Staff of the Centenary Health Center gave Luanga's grandmother a Moringa tree to plant. Now when grandmother cooks greens, she adds in Moringa powder. Luanga and his whole family are healthier, thanks to the magical Moringa tree!
Pray for the staff of the Centenary Health Center and the children they care for.
